The tester was developed for the precise calculation of wear on carbon-ceramic brake disks.
The individual brake disks are measured during the production process and marked with predefined test points.
With Carboteq®, it is possible to calculate the wear at these test points in a simple manner without removing the brake disk.
Design and features:
Carbon-ceramic brake disks are made of short carbon fibers embedded in silicon carbide (SiC).
The carbon fibers within the extremely tough and resistant SiC matrix are responsible for rigidity and fracture toughness.
As heat develops during the braking process, these carbon fibers oxidize and the rigidity of the disk begins to deteriorate.
Based on the pulse-induction method, the Carboteq® tester measures the condition of the carbon fiber structure and thereby makes it possible to determine the extent of oxidation.
The patented measuring technology and the shape of the Carboteq® tester were especially optimized to the geometry of the brake disks. The integrated laser facilitates precise positioning and the sturdy housing is designed for the rigors of workshop use.
Regular calibration, every 12 months* at the latest.
