How to Clean Hand Tools for A Car

Posted by on 12/25/2012 to Info News
Of course, if you are using hand tools on your car, it is a good idea to keep them clean. You don’t want dirty, greasy tools being put all over your nice, newly overhauled engine, now do you? So, here are some tips on how to clean the hand tools that you use to fix your car. Take care of them and they will take care of you.

Believe it or not, all you really need is a bucket of hot water and a bottle of Dawn dishwashing detergent. Oh, and don’t forget dishwashing gloves so you don’t get the grease from your nasty tools all over your hands. I’m not saying that you have to keep your tools pristine but once they slide out of your hand because of the grease, dirt, and grime, it’s time to take notice and clean them up.

Once you fill the bucket with hot water, add the dish washing detergent, and then your tools. Let them sit for at least five minutes. When you pull them out, most of the grease will already be gone. Scrub the remaining grime off with a nylon brush. Rinse the tools under cold water and dry them completely on a towel. This should have your tools looking brand new in no time at all.
